Introducing eLearning Design & Development

Designing an effective eLearning programme can be a daunting task, but with the right planning and execution, it can lead to desired outcomes. In this post we will discuss some of the key terms and concepts involved in designing eLearning programmes

Design – This is the process of coming up with an idea for a course – the learning goals, the learning tasks and the learner. 
 
Structure – This is the process of bringing your design together into a logical flow-chart.
 
Outcome– This is what we want the client to get from our eLearning course. The Outcome should move beyond general awareness of the content and incorporate action steps which will lead to an achievable learning outcome.
 

Design Considerations 

There is a lot of flexibility in the terminology that is used to describe the design of an eLearning programme, so we will just be focusing on some of the key concepts for this post:
 
Content – The content is what the learner will actually experience when interacting with the course. It could be in the form of video, images, text and audio.
